On this episode of The First Run, Chris & Matt watch the craziest double feature in the history of the show. First up, it’s writer/director Greta Gerwig’s ‘Lady Bird’. Saorise Ronan stars along with Laurie Metcalf in the coming of age story about the relationships between mothers and daughters. ‘Lady Bird’ has a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score at 100%, could it also be a perfect film? Then it’s on to the absolute polar opposite of movies as Matt & Chris watch S. Craig Zahler’s, the director of ‘Bone Tomahawk’’s second feature, ‘Brawl In Cell Block 99’. Vince Vaughn stars as the baddest bad ass ever to set foot in prison. It’s an insanely violent story of a man who lives by his own code, pushed to the edge to support, and then protect, his family. As always there’s the review of the big releases on Blu-Ray & DVD, featuring the Straight to DVD and Streaming Picks of the Week. Then the show wraps with another round of ‘What Are The Odds’ where we discuss topics like, will The Last Jedi be the highest rated Star Wars film of all time? And will the Queen biopic be a disaster? Fun fact, Chris totally screws up the time frame of the show’s stinger this week. So enjoy that.
